Magic Johnson Biography
During his 12-year NBA career, Johnson led the Lakers to five NBA championships (1980, '82, '85, '87, '88) and nine appearances in the NBA Finals. He was namedthe NBA's "Most Valuable Player" on three occasions (1987, '89, '90), NBA Finals MVP three times (1980, '82, '87), earned All-NBA First Team honors nine times, participated in 11 All-Star Games, and concluded his career as the league's all-time assist leader.
While he may be best known for his prowess on the court, he is also an entrepreneur with multi-faceted business interests. As chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises (MJE), he provides high quality products and services primarily to ethnically diverse and underserved urban communities through strategic alliances, investments, consulting, and endorsements. Johnson is also chairman of the multi-cultural media company that houses the Vibe, Uptown, and Soul Train brands.
In 2012, Johnson joined a partnership that purchased the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team. He has also teamed up to build a new stadium and bring an NFL team back to Los Angeles as well as thousands of jobs to the city.
